Executive PA Awards

09 Sep 2019 | Hannah Brewer

The excitement levels at SprintHQ were in overdrive last Thursday night, when we all attended the Executive PA Awards. Thanks to Executive PA Media, we had the opportunity at these awards to shine the spotlight on the EA heroes who dedicate their careers and lives (yes, it’s not just a 9 to 5 job!) to supporting their manager with the resources to perform their critical role to their full capability.

As the sun set over Sydney, Doltone House Hyde Park saw its ballroom fill up with the highest calibre of office support professionals from around the globe. Then entered the three Sprintesses who were there to cheer on one of their favourite honouree Sprinter and finalist nominee, Justin Barwick EA to CHRO at Serco. The champagne flowed, pictures were snapped and the celebrating began!

The evening was hosted by the wonderful Robyn Moore who captivated her audience by sharing highly amusing, inspirational and thought provoking personal stories. We were then later entertained by Olympic Gold and Bronze medalist, Kerri Pottharst, whose journey to the Olympic Games was nothing short of fascinating. Kerri also shared her Gold Medal Excellence plan, the plan that bought her a Gold at the Sydney games – so if I ever fancy a change of direction from recruitment I feel like I have the insider knowledge to become an international level athlete.

Three courses later – it was award time. The atmosphere fizzed (almost as much as the champagne) and the finalists eagerly awaited the results of the Executive PA Awards. Earlier that day they had been thoroughly grilled by a panel of industry experts and the nerves were kicking in. The clock struck 10pm and the anticipation was getting all too much! Six immensely talented EA’s were in the running for the golden award of the evening – EA of the Year. Previous award winners, Nyssa Lambkin and Anthony Carthew, took to the stage and presented this prestigious award. Michelle Hogan from Facebook was announced as the winner and the room erupted in cheer. Michelle was so humble when accepting her award and even admitted that she hadn’t prepared a speech as she was up against such high calibre competition, so had just planned to enjoy the evening with a glass of wine!

We would like to extend a huge congratulations to all the finalists who work so hard day after day and give such a valuable contribution to their industries. Sprint wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the outstanding talent of the support professionals in our network. Those who have worked for Sprint and those who we work with.

To all the EA’s out there – you are all AMAZING and we appreciate everything that you do. Keep smashing it and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s awards!
