For this role, you’ll be highly proficient with Xero and confident with general payroll principals, Award rules etc.
What will the role entail?
- Transaction Recording: Accurately record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts and payments.
- Invoicing: Creating accurate and comprehensive invoices for business sales across a number of departments.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and ledger accounts to resolve discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage end-to-end processing of invoices, monitor various accounts and follow up on outstanding client payments.
- Payroll: Manage weekly and fortnightly payroll (currently 26 staff – mix of permanent staff and contractors paid from timesheets), payday super contributions and annual leave tracking.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare regular and standard financial statements, including income statements and cash flow reports.
- Compliance & Tax Preparation: Follow any instructions from the external Accountant to ensure all data is accurate, and assist in the preparation of the quarterly BAS (lodged by the Accountant).
- Record Keeping: Maintain organised digital records of all financial documents in accordance with any relevant ATO requirements.
- Staff leadership: Currently overseeing one admin junior, but this may grow overtime.
What we need from you…
As you’ll be entrusted to take care of the company accounts for 4 entities (1 main one, 3 sub entities) and prepare the accounts up to trial balance for the external accountant, you’ll be confident to hit the ground running.
You possess a fantastic customer-service mindset and positive attitude. You love working ‘in the detail’ and when a problem arises, you put on your detective hat to solve the mystery – nothing gets past you. Your warmth is infectious and whilst you put your head down when it’s busy, you’re also the first to engage in the office banter when the time is right.
You have super speedy computer skills, are a wizz with Xero, and thrive working in an environment where most days are at pace – construction has never been known to be a ‘cruisy’ environment!
With one direct report, you’ll have assistance when you need it and the business is always opening to hiring additional staff when necessary.
You’ll be mature minded, capable and 100% commercially astute.
